Our Unexpected Blessing…

I just had to say that I had a great weekend.  It was quite unexpected, but one of my sister-in-laws came by to pick up my girls.  We actually saw them on Thursday night and my girls wanted to sleep over at their aunty’s house, but since she had to work the next day, she told them she’d come by after work on Friday to pick them up.  Turns out, my son wanted to go too.  So I came home from softball practice Friday evening (I coach high school) and no one was home except my husband.  We took advantage of the surprise evening alone and went out to dinner. 

We thought our kids would be coming home Saturday evening after my sister-in-law took them to a Christmas parade in our neighborhood, but they slept over again.  So we had another evening alone and Sunday as well.  Turns out that a few of our classmates had invited us to a Christmas brunch on Sunday morning, so, since it was still “just us” we decided to go.  It was so nice to have a few evenings alone with my husband.  We had a couple of great ”dates” and took the time to just relax and enjoy each other’s company.  It’s been a while since we had that opportunity.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids, but this was such a nice, unexpected break that we know may not happen again for a while, so we made the most of it!
