Fertility is a BLESSING!

There are a lot of comments made to women who have a lot of children.  People say things like “Don’t you have cable?”  Or they look at a pregnant women that has a bunch of little ones and ask, “You know how that’s happening right?”  While it’s difficult for some to understand why a family would choose to have more children, I will NEVER AGAIN take my fertility for granted.  I consider myself so, so, so, so, so blessed to be able to 1) get pregnant, 2) carry a child to term, 3) safely bring them into this world, and 4) have children who are quite healthy.

There are soooo many women who struggle to even conceive, who go through so many things just to make a child.  There are so many couples who, though they can conceive, endure loss after loss because something just doesn’t go right.  Then there are families who go through half their pregnancy or more only to find out that this child who they’ve grown to love more than anything, has a fatal defect or abnormality.  Others have children who do make it to term, but have serious health issues - while these children are usually still loved unconditionally by their parents, it’s not an easy road to travel.

So when I heard about families saying to a couple, “You’re not having any more right?” It tugs at my heart.  If these people love their children, are caring for them, are providing for them, and are being responsible parents, why shouldn’t they have more?  Why is a child something looked down upon?  I have always believed that ALL children, no matter how they are conceived, are a BLESSING!

Anyway - this all was brought to mind today when someone at Fertility Friend shared the following video.  I was bawling half way through.
