Baby seems to have an aversion to being in her car seat. She has been known to scream for entire rides. She doesn’t give up! I feel so bad, but she has to stay in there. My husband said to teach her how to drink a bottle, but I really don’t want to do that. I honestly don’t think it will help, plus I don’t want to start feeding her formula in a bottle to get her used to it and take away from nursing time. I have tried giving her a sippy cup with water and baby juice, but that doesn’t help all that much.

It’s unusual for her to just relax in the car seat. She is either sleeping OR screaming, nothing in between. Hardly will she be awake and just cruise in her car seat.

It was so sad today because she was crying so hard. When I went by her she immediately stopped crying, but when I went back to drive she would scream again. It was a fussy day for her in general though. I hope that’s why today seemed worse than normal. I supposed she is getting to that “separation anxiety” age. I need to be more aware of that and sensitive to it I think.

I recently saw my one and only sister and sibling give birth to her very first child. She had a baby boy and she did so great. I was so proud of her.

One thing that surprised me though, was that being there at the hospital and being part of the wonderful miracle of birth didn’t make me want to experience it for myself again.

I recently did a post over at Because Mom Said So asking other mothers, “How do you know when you’re done?” I got a number of interesting responses there, so go check it out if you’d like to see what other moms had to say.

But being there with my sister, I could remember quite vividly what it was like to be in the different stages of labor she was in and how challenging the whole experience is. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still one of the most beautiful, most amazing experiences any woman can be involved in, but I did not have any desire to go through it again for myself. I’d been going back and forth between whether or not we should TTC again. It’s so crazy how widely my feelings can vary on this subject. I can easily go from one end of the spectrum to the other from day to day.

I thought being with my sister may cause me to want to do it again. I know it had that effect on one of the other women who was also there. That’s why it surprised me even more that it didn’t affect me the same way. Maybe the birth of his baby of mine was just too recent. I’m not ready. But part of me just felt like my time was done and now I can help others (my sister and even my sister-in-law who recently found out she’s expecting as well) and I can still be part of this “common miracle” without having to actually be the one giving birth. This thought actually sat pretty well with me. Who knows if it will actually stick or not. We’ll just have to wait and see. I just know that right now, at this very moment, and actually for the past few days straight which is kind of unusual, I’ve felt *almost* at peace with the idea that maybe my time is done. Only time will tell. I’m still not quite ready to finalize that decision just yet.

To me that is. In my “Ouch! Teeth!” post, I said that I was baby’s favorite thing to bite on. Like I said before, I NEVER dealt with this with my other children. I’m not even sure what I’m supposed to do. Of course I don’t want her biting me, so I scold her, tell her know, and even give a little flick right by her mouth with my finger so she knows that’s what’ I’m telling her “No!” about. Plus that flick is sometimes the only way for me to get her to stop her bite if I’m holding her and she’s clamped on to my shoulder or arm.

I’ve tried giving her baby teething toys and she’ll chomp on those for a bit, but before you know it that toy is flying through the air. She just chucks it when she’s done and really seems to prefer me to those toys. Normally I would be flattered, but this is not one area in which I WANT to be more interesting to my daughter than toys are. It hurts!

As I mentioned in my last post, this young lady of mine is a biter. I’m not saying ouch just for me though, since I seem to be her favorite thing to bite. I’m also saying out for her. I think the reason she bites so much is because her mouth hurts from teething. She just made 8 months and has had 4 teeth for some time now. If I’m not mistaken, her 5 AND 6 tooth will probably come through within a month’s time.

With her, her teeth seem to come in pairs with two breaking through her gums within days of each other.  I once heard that some pediatricians were saying that there’s no such thing as “teething.”  That babies don’t actually get unusually fussy or run a temperature while teething.  I’m sorry, but SOMETHING is happening just before their teeth come through because my most recent experience involved both increased fussiness AND an elevated temperature.  So if that’s not really from “teething” than what’s it from?

Wow - it’s been such a long time since I’ve been here. I really need to come back more often. Baby is already 8 months old!

She started off a little slower than her siblings with the crawling, BUT then she moved right on to standing within weeks of learning to crawl. Her hair is getting longer. She makes all kinds of cute baby sounds. BUT, unlike my other children, she is a biter and pincher! I’ve never experienced this before with any of my children.

It’s so funny how, even if you have other children, your new baby is ALWAYS different in some way. Just because you’ve been raising other kids, you’ve never parented THIS child before and they are all unique in their own ways.

Stumble It!

WooHoo! We got to move in to the house we’re buying! It’s so great to be back in our own space. As much as we love our family, it’s just better for all of us that we not live together for long periods of time. Anyway - our purchase is not quite complete, but we are able to occupy the house while we wait for the transaction closes which should be around the end of the month.

Moving is such so tiring. I can’t believe that some people actually LIKE to move. LOL. We have all our necessities out, but we still have a pile of boxes to go through and put away. There’s so much to do and it’s quite exhausting, but we do love being here.

Baby was a bit fussy during the move because I was busy and it’s just a different place. Soooo, it was a little tough on her too, but I think we’re all beginning to settle in now and get a routine going.

Speaking of baby, she will be 3 months old soon! She’s growing so fast. In another month she’ll be going back for another well baby check and we’ll be able to see just how much she has grown. I have a feeling she’s going through another growth spurt (or she’s just trying to deal with the change in our lives) because she’s been nursing more. Right now she’s taking a nap. My son is also taking a nap. Like I said earlier, it’s nice to be in our own space where we have comfortable places to relax, play, and sleep.
